The Second International Meeting within Civil Society Dialogue Food Safety Project was carried out in Ankara!

The second international meeting of “Food Safety” project under Civil Society Dialogue Programme which is co-funded by European Union and Turkish Republic was carried out on 26th-27th of September, 2016 in Ankara/Turkey.
The meeting was made in the office of SETBIR with 2 people from General Secretariat of FEDACOVA (Valencia Regional Food Business Federation) which is the partner of the project and one sector representative who attended to the first international meeting in Valencia. Within this international meeting, several visits to food establishments were carried out.
In the first day, after opening speeches, opinions about the training and training materials that will be done one for consumers and three for SME’s about food safety, food additives and the implementation of labelling were exchanged in SETBIR’s office. The plans about the trainings were informed, opinions and suggestions were received. Good practises were evaluated. Suggestions were gotten from the project partner, aiming that the trainings be more useful and more participated and evaluations were done. The planned dates for the trainings were shared with the partner. The tasks and activities that should be done by coordinator and partner in the rest of the project and the project’s budget were evaluated.
After the meeting in SETBIR’s office, dairy and fruit juice factory and wine manufacturing plant belonging to “Ataturk Forest Farm” was visited. The cases and good practises were demonstrated to the partner and were evaluated.
After the visit of Ataturk Forest Farm, “Meat and Milk Authority- Sincan Slaughterhouse” was visited. The slaughterhouse and production processes were investigated. Opinions were asked to the partner and the evaluations were done.
The official dinner was held with the project’s staffs after the first day’s visits.
In the second day, “Sütaş” which is the one of dairy plants that has received the approval of exports to European Union was visited. The dairy plant, training and practise centre, biogas plant and the farm in Aksaray were seen. Good practises in the plant that has production at European Union standards were evaluated. Production processes and implementations were explained by the authorities of Sütaş.
The second international meeting for 2 days in Ankara ended after the visit of Sütaş.
About Food Safety Project
The project that is carried out by SETBİR aims to strengthen communication and collaboration between non-governmental organisations (NGOs) that work about food safety and food additives. The project that takes place in partnership of Valencia Regional Food Business Federation (FEDACOVA) of Spain is performed in Ankara, Izmir, İstanbul and Valencia.
In the project, providing the collaboration between NGOs belong to food sectors in Turkey and EU, raising awareness for SMEs and consumers about food safety and food additives are aimed within Turkey’s EU process.
Organising the trainings and seminars which aim to give exact and essential information about food safety and food additives to SMEs and consumers has planned within the project. In the same time, getting information about EU member countries implementation of food safety and food additives, regulating good practises examples and transferring them to related groups via training, seminar and internet have provided.

Civil Society Dialogue Programme was improved as a platform that makes together societies to know each other and to exchange the information. Thereby NGOs from Turkey and EU member countries league together in the common issues.
Civil Society Dialogue Programme that is co-funded by Turkish Republic and European Union within The Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA) is carried out by Ministry for EU Affairs. Central Finance and Contract Unit is a contract authority and the programme has different subjects and NGOs since 2008.

Financial support 11 million Euro about environment; energy; consumer and health protection; justice, freedom and security; right of establishment and freedom to provide services; regional policy and coordination of structural instruments; enterprise and industrial policy; agriculture and fisheries and education. So the financial support for the dialogue projects until present is more than 42,5 million Euro.
